Who they are
Tryndamere is a fierce warrior whose tribe was destroyed by the Darkin Aatrox. He survived on willpower and fury.
He joined the Avarosan through a political marriage to their leader Ashe, which grew into genuine affection.
Their story belongs to The Freljord. Three tribes, one frozen land, and something sealed beneath the ice.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
A warrior tribe
Tryndamere was born into a nameless Freljord tribe known for fighting and metalwork. They forged blades modeled on the tusks of their boar god and warred constantly with rival groups, mountain beasts and Noxian forces.
- Step 2
Aatrox arrives
The darkin Aatrox came out of an unnatural storm in the east. Some of the tribe took him for their god Ildhaurg and knelt, and he killed them anyway. Tryndamere charged him in rage and was struck down and left dying.
- Step 3
Rising again
An overwhelming surge of will and fury revived him. He gained blood magic, including rapid healing that grows stronger with his rage.
- Step 4
The road to the Avarosan
With his tribe wrecked and enemies on all sides, he led the survivors west to the Avarosan, who were said to follow the reborn goddess Avarosa. He challenged their warriors to duels to prove himself.
- Step 5
Braum and Ashe
His ferocity frightened the Avarosan until Braum stepped in during one violent duel and absorbed his rage with his shield, which started a friendship. His tribe was given sanctuary through a political marriage to the warmother Ashe, and their bond grew into real affection.
Turning points
- Surviving Aatrox's attack through sheer fury
- Leading his tribe to the Avarosan
- Being stopped by Braum's shield
- Marrying Ashe
Where their story stands now
Tryndamere leads his people and serves as an Avarosan champion, married to Ashe. Aatrox is still at large, and the source of his blood magic is not explained.
Who they are tied to
- Ashe →The marriage began as a political arrangement that gave his tribe a home, and it grew into real affection.
- Braum →Braum stopped Tryndamere's rage with his shield during a duel, and that began their friendship.
- Aatrox →Aatrox destroyed Tryndamere's tribe and nearly killed him, and the unfinished revenge still defines him.
- Kindred →Twin spirit gods of death, Lamb and Wolf, who shepherd souls onward.
Where this fits in the story
- The Freljord · step 1
The Watchers and the Iceborn
The Watchers, beings from the Void with no form of their own, turned humans of the Freljord into immortal Iceborn who served them and prepared the world for oblivion.
- The Freljord · step 2
The three sisters
Avarosa led an Iceborn rebellion against the Watchers, and her sister Lissandra wove a spell of True Ice that entombed them beneath the Howling Abyss. Lissandra paid for it with her sisters and now watches the seal.
- The Freljord · step 3
Ornn and Volibear
Demigods shaped the early Freljord. Ornn, the craftsman, withdrew after his conflict with the storm-god Volibear ended the Hearthblood civilization.
- The Freljord · step 4
Three tribes today
Ashe leads the Avarosan, who want a united Freljord. Sejuani leads the Winter's Claw, who follow raiding and tradition. Lissandra leads the Frostguard, who keep the seals. The True Ice holding the Watchers weakens a little more every year.
