Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Game Story Explained collects, why, and the rights you have. It covers visitors in the European Union and the United Kingdom (GDPR) and in the United States (including California, CCPA/CPRA).

We don't collect sensitive personal information. Accounts are for people aged 16 or older, and the site is not directed to children under 13.
Who receives it
Service providers that host or process data for us: website hosting (Vercel), application and database hosting (Railway), Google Analytics (only with your consent or, in the US, unless you opt out). Game images are loaded from IGDB's image servers (Twitch), which receive your IP address when your browser fetches them. Advertising: Google AdSense, once ads are switched on. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland Google asks for your consent through its own certified consent message (IAB Transparency and Consent Framework); in the US you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your data, and ads then use restricted data processing. How Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Affiliate partners will be listed here and in the Cookie Policy when we add them.
Some providers are in the United States. Transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Account data: while your account exists; deleted when you delete it. Technical logs: up to 90 days. Analytics: 14 months. Waitlist: until you unsubscribe. Guest data stays in your browser until you delete it.
Your rights (EU / UK)
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent at any time. You can download or delete your data yourself in Account, change cookies in Cookie settings, or write to info@gamestoryexplained.com. You can also complain to the supervisory authority: Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), www.aepd.es.
US residents: Notice at Collection and your rights
Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (email, IP address), internet activity (pages read, progress), inferences (games you like, from your library). Sources: you and your device. Purposes: listed above.
We do not sell personal information for money. If advertising is enabled, sharing data with ad partners for cross-context behavioral advertising may count as a "sale" or "sharing" under California law. You can opt out at Your Privacy Choices. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as an opt-out.
You have the right to know, access, correct and delete your personal information, to opt out of sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We don't use sensitive personal information, so there is nothing to limit. Make a request in Account or at info@gamestoryexplained.com; an authorized agent can also act for you. We will verify your request with the email on your account.
