Sejuani

Warmother of the Winter's Claw.

Who they are

Sejuani leads the Winter's Claw and holds to the traditions of raiding. She challenged her mother Kalkia for leadership and has since absorbed neighboring tribes.

Their story belongs to The Freljord. Three tribes, one frozen land, and something sealed beneath the ice.

Their story, step by step

  1. Step 1

    A neglected child

    Sejuani was born to Kalkia, Warmother of the Winter's Claw, through a political marriage. Kalkia soon abandoned the role and left the tribe in disarray. Sejuani was raised by her grandmother Hejian, who was cold and demanding. Nothing she did seemed enough.

  2. Step 2

    Friendship with Ashe

    On a visit to the Avarosan tribe, Sejuani admired the warmother Grena and befriended Grena's daughter Ashe, who became her closest friend. The friendship ended when Grena questioned how Hejian treated Sejuani, and Hejian cut ties with the Avarosan.

  3. Step 3

    Plotting against her mother

    Kalkia eventually came back and took the Warmother's place again, which enraged Sejuani and led her to plan an overthrow. On an expedition she met Ashe again, starving after the Frostguard had destroyed the Avarosan tribe. Sejuani wanted to raid the Ebrataal tribe for supplies, Ashe refused to back the raid, and the two became enemies.

  4. Step 4

    The duel

    A raid on a Noxian warship gave Sejuani the support she needed and also freed Bristle, a drüvask boar who became her mount. She then challenged Kalkia to a forbidden duel, won it, and killed her mother.

  5. Step 5

    Warmother

    Sejuani made the Winter's Claw into the most feared and brutal tribe in the Freljord. She took in neighbouring tribes through raids and drove out the Frostguard faction. She leads a starving people through a bitter winter.

  6. Step 6

    The Cauldron

    Sejuani learned of the Cauldron of Ornn, an artifact that could feed people for weeks. It had been stolen by Volibear and hidden in Ursine land. She set out with the warrior Olaf to recover it.

Where their story stands now

Sejuani rules the Winter's Claw as Warmother while her people face starvation. She regards Ashe's path of peace and farming as a betrayal of Grena's legacy. Her expedition against Volibear for the Cauldron is unfinished in the lore.

    Avarosa led an Iceborn rebellion against the Watchers, and her sister Lissandra wove a spell of True Ice that entombed them beneath the Howling Abyss. Lissandra paid for it with her sisters and now watches the seal.

    Demigods shaped the early Freljord. Ornn, the craftsman, withdrew after his conflict with the storm-god Volibear ended the Hearthblood civilization.

    Ashe leads the Avarosan, who want a united Freljord. Sejuani leads the Winter's Claw, who follow raiding and tradition. Lissandra leads the Frostguard, who keep the seals. The True Ice holding the Watchers weakens a little more every year.
