Who they are
Aurora was born in Aamu with a natural gift for seeing both the material world and the spirit realm at once. She studies spirits and their nature.
She travels the Freljord helping lost spirits return to their own dimension.
Their story belongs to The Freljord. Three tribes, one frozen land, and something sealed beneath the ice.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
A girl who saw spirits
Aurora was born in Aamu, a remote Freljord village of the Bryni, a rabbit-like vastayan tribe with thin magical heritage. From birth she could see the spirit realm and the material world together. Her parents thought it was imagination, but her great-aunt Havu encouraged her.
- Step 2
Studying spirits
She came to understand that her imaginary friends were real spirits. She began studying and recording them so others could understand her dual sight. That work drew her out of Aamu and into the wider Freljord.
- Step 3
Haestryr
On her travels she met a twisted, feral elk spirit later identified as Haestryr, a lost demigod. She won its trust and tried to heal it. When that failed she kept it close by holding it within the Spirit Realm. Spirit walkers could not help, and they pointed her toward the demigods.
- Step 4
Ornn's friendship
She travelled to Hearth-Home to ask Ornn for help. He dismissed her at first, but she won him over by tidying his home. He apologised, told her about Haestryr's identity, and forged her a wand that lets her open portals.
Turning points
- Left Aamu to study spirits
- Befriended the feral spirit Haestryr
- Won Ornn's help and received a portal wand
Where their story stands now
Aurora keeps working to restore Haestryr's memory and true self, and she often visits Ornn at Hearth-Home. Whether she can help Haestryr remains open.
Who they are tied to
Where this fits in the story
- The Freljord · step 1
The Watchers and the Iceborn
The Watchers, beings from the Void with no form of their own, turned humans of the Freljord into immortal Iceborn who served them and prepared the world for oblivion.
- The Freljord · step 2
The three sisters
Avarosa led an Iceborn rebellion against the Watchers, and her sister Lissandra wove a spell of True Ice that entombed them beneath the Howling Abyss. Lissandra paid for it with her sisters and now watches the seal.
- The Freljord · step 3
Ornn and Volibear
Demigods shaped the early Freljord. Ornn, the craftsman, withdrew after his conflict with the storm-god Volibear ended the Hearthblood civilization.
- The Freljord · step 4
Three tribes today
Ashe leads the Avarosan, who want a united Freljord. Sejuani leads the Winter's Claw, who follow raiding and tradition. Lissandra leads the Frostguard, who keep the seals. The True Ice holding the Watchers weakens a little more every year.
