Who they are
Singed is the alchemist who invented Shimmer, the serum that enhances soldiers and became a major illegal drug in Zaun.
Their story belongs to Zaun. The smoggy undercity where unregulated science pushes back.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
A scholar of Piltover
Singed was once Corin Reveck, a respected alchemist and scholar at the Piltover Academy, known alongside Professor Heimerdinger. He had a daughter, Orianna, whom he loved deeply.
- Step 2
Losing Orianna
Orianna died of unknown causes, and Reveck began unethical experiments in an effort to bring her back. The Academy dismissed him and left no public record of his crimes. He moved to Zaun, hid a laboratory in a cave, and kept Orianna's body in a chemtech pod.
- Step 3
Shimmer
In Zaun he cultivated a mutated waverider named Rio and briefly taught a young Viktor, who left after seeing the pain of Rio's care. Later the gangster Silco hired him to build a way of enhancing his fighters. Singed invented shimmer. A factory explosion during Silco's fight against Vander left him badly burned, and he began wearing bandages and scarves.
- Step 4
Silco's alchemist
Silco's empire grew on Singed's refined shimmer. When Jinx was badly hurt, Silco brought her to him, and Singed's experimental surgery saved her life but worsened her instability and turned her eyes pink.
- Step 5
Warwick
After Silco's death Singed reshaped Vander's shimmer-soaked body with murk wolf DNA and chemtech implants. The result was Warwick, a savage chimera whose blood heals. Singed came to believe that blood held the last key to conquering death.
- Step 6
The cure
Singed was arrested in Zaun, then recruited by General Ambessa Medarda, and he supplied her force with shimmer. He helped complete the transformation of Viktor's followers with a blood transfusion that wiped Vander's remaining memories. When Ambessa and Viktor were gone he finished his life's work and gave the cure to Orianna, who woke in a hextech body. She stared blankly at her own reflection and ignored the gifts he brought.
Turning points
- Lost Orianna and turned to forbidden experiments
- Invented shimmer for Silco and was scarred in the explosion
- Created Warwick from Vander's body
- Revived Orianna with his cure for death
Where their story stands now
Singed has finished his cure for death, but Orianna's blank response leaves it unclear whether she is truly herself. Warwick's whereabouts and state of mind are also unknown. the lore shows no sign that he regrets any of his experiments.
Who they are tied to
Where this fits in the story
- Zaun · step 1
From port city to undercity
Zaun began as an ancient seafaring port sacred to Janna. Around 772 AN the site was drowned in a catastrophic excavation, and it was rebuilt as the undercity below Piltover.
- Zaun · step 2
Chemtech and Shimmer
Without rules, Zaun's alchemists pushed science further. Singed's Shimmer serum can enhance soldiers and also became a major illegal drug that drives the underground economy.
- Zaun · step 3
The Day of Ash and Silco
Vander and Silco led a failed uprising on the Day of Ash, and hundreds died. Silco then built a criminal empire on Shimmer until his adopted daughter Jinx killed him.
- Zaun · step 4
A fractured city
After Silco the Chembarons split, Piltover occupied the undercity, Noxus intervened and Viktor rose to prominence. Zaun is now represented in Piltover's politics, but the peace is uneasy.
