Who they are
Darius sits on the Trifarix, the three-person council that rules Noxus, and embodies Might. He is a symbol of the empire's belief that strength is what earns a place.

Their story, step by step
- Step 1
Orphans of Basilich
Darius grew up an orphan in Basilich with his younger brother Draven, surviving through constant fighting. He protected Draven and earned lasting battle scars doing it. Along with a friend named Quilletta Varn, the children were spared when Captain Cyrus invaded the city, after Draven's reckless knife throw at Cyrus's flag impressed him. All three were offered a place in Noxus instead of execution.
- Step 2
A ruthless officer
Darius and Draven served under Cyrus in campaigns that put down rebellions against Grand General Boram Darkwill. Darius also began a relationship with Quilletta, and the lore says they had two children, Decius and Invetia. In one battle he beheaded a general who ordered a retreat, then rallied the troops to win, which won him promotion. After a victory over the Varju, Darkwill gave him the title Hand of Noxus.
- Step 3
The Freljord and its cost
As Hand of Noxus, Darius led campaigns in the Freljord. He fought off assassination attempts, clashed with the troll king Trundle, and was held captive by Winter's Claw. Trundle's True Ice club froze his axe and left him badly injured. During this long stalemate his son Decius died after Darius ordered the draft, a loss that later split him from Quilletta.

The Trifarix
Back in Noxus, Darius found that Jericho Swain, with allies including Draven, had killed Darkwill and taken power. Darius respected Swain and did not seek revenge, seeing his duty as owed to Noxus and not to any one ruler. Swain proposed a three-part leadership so that no single person could corrupt the empire. Darius took the seat of Might and command of the Trifarian Legion, alongside Swain's Vision and the anonymous Faceless as Guile.

Basilich and Urtis
Quilletta, shaken by Noxian chemical attacks in Ionia and her son's death, led a revolt in Basilich, and Darius was sent to crush it. He defended the draft by saying Noxus was built on sacrifice, offered her surrender, and was refused. Quilletta was then killed by their daughter Invetia, who claimed to be applying the Noxian philosophy Darius had taught her. Darius afterward led the conquest of Urtis, where he killed its defiant king and offered a slave girl the chance to stand with Noxus.

Where their story stands now
Darius remains a Trifarix leader and commands the Trifarian Legion from the Immortal Bastion, working in step with Swain. The personal wounds of Basilich, including Quilletta's death and Invetia's act, are left unresolved. His link with Draven after these events is also unclear.
