Mordekaiser

Built the Immortal Bastion during the Age of Tyranny.

Who they are

Mordekaiser built the Immortal Bastion and ruled with brutality in the Age of Tyranny. The fortress later became the capital of modern Noxus, and he is also tied to the Shadow Isles.

Their story belongs to Noxus and also touches Shadow Isles. An empire that rewards strength, wherever it comes from.

Their story, step by step

  1. Step 1

    A warlord named Sahn-Uzal

Before he was Mordekaiser, he was Sahn-Uzal, a warlord from the northern wildlands who conquered tribe after tribe in pursuit of a place in the Hall of Bones. His slaughter drew the demon Atakhan. Sahn-Uzal beat the creature and bound it by merging it with his loyal general, Khatash-Li, making a weapon for further wars.

  2. Step 2

    The empty afterlife

When Sahn-Uzal died, the Hall of Bones turned out to be a barren wasteland. He refused to fade away. He learned Ochnun, the language of the dead, and began whispering to mortals while he plotted a return.

  3. Step 3

    Rebirth in armor

Sorcerers eventually summoned him into enchanted armor, hoping to control him. The binding failed because he had given up his old name. As Mordekaiser he killed them and forged the weapon Nightfall from their souls.

  4. Step 4

    The Immortal Bastion

He rebuilt his army and bound Atakhan once more. He also forced the yordle Veigar into servitude through torture and subjugated the fire demon Tybaulk. From the Immortal Bastion he ruled Noxus for generations.

  5. Step 5

    Betrayal

His acolyte LeBlanc conspired with the hemomancer Vladimir, whose lands alone had resisted him, and together they sealed Mordekaiser away. They took over the fortress and his demonic servants.

  6. Step 6

    Locked in his death realm

He now lingers in Mitna Rachnun, a death realm built from the souls of his victims. LeBlanc guards his armor so he cannot return, while acolytes such as Januk try to bring him back. The Immortal Bastion has become the seat of power in modern Noxus.

Turning points

  • Defeating Atakhan and binding him to Khatash-Li
  • Finding the Hall of Bones empty and refusing to fade
  • Killing the sorcerers who summoned him and forging Nightfall
  • Being sealed away by LeBlanc and Vladimir

Where their story stands now

Mordekaiser remains sealed in his death realm, waiting for a chance to take back his dominion. His acolytes keep working on a resurrection, though Januk's attempt used a fake elixir and failed. Tybaulk now serves Annie, and it is unclear where his loyalty lies.
