Who they are
Sion is a Noxian who killed Demacia's King Jarvan I in battle, one of the best-known moments of the long rivalry between the two powers.
Their story belongs to Noxus. An empire that rewards strength, wherever it comes from.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
A warrior's oath
Sion came from a warrior culture that had belonged to Noxus since its founding. He swore an oath to his ancestors never to flee from battle, hoping to earn an honorable death. He became a general feared for brutality more than clever strategy.
- Step 2
Hand of Noxus
His victories in the Argent Mountains earned him the title Hand of Noxus. During the first Demacian-Noxian war he sought out Demacia's King Jarvan I at the Battle of Hvardis.
- Step 3
Death at Hvardis
Mortally wounded, Sion still strangled King Jarvan I with his bare hands and took the crown before dying. Noxus honored him with a monument and a burial at the Immortal Bastion.
- Step 4
Raised by the Black Rose
About fifty years later, Black Rose hemomancers, including Vladimir and Dr. Esslanger, resurrected him as a gift for Grand General Boram Darkwill. He came back with an unnatural bloodlust and could not be controlled, so Darkwill had him chained and sealed beneath his statue.
- Step 5
A weapon for a new regime
After Jericho Swain overthrew Darkwill, Sion was sent to punish Hvardis for breaking away under the old regime, as a warning to other defiant regions. He keeps only fragments of his old memories and cannot tell friend from foe.
- Step 6
Ionia
During Noxus's second invasion of Ionia he was deployed and nearly killed Irelia. Karma, Akali, Yasuo and Kennen together drove him back.
Turning points
- Swearing never to flee from battle
- Strangling King Jarvan I at Hvardis
- Being resurrected by the Black Rose and sealed again
- Being unleashed on Hvardis and later Ionia
Where their story stands now
Sion lies sealed beneath his monument until Noxus calls on him again. Whether any real consciousness or humanity remains in him is left open, as is how far the Black Rose controls him.
