Who they are
Rell grew up in Noxus's impoverished Bel'zhun district and rose as a Reckoner arena fighter. General Ambessa Medarda recruited her, and she discovered her power to manipulate metal.
The Black Rose captured her and branded her with runes taken from other young mages. She escaped, seeking vengeance on her captors and on Noxus.

Their story, step by step
- Step 1
Born poor and angry
Rell was born in Qualthala to a Noxian soldier and Lady Dahlia of the fading House Canwell. After the family fell into poverty they moved to Bel'zhun's Barrel district. She was an aggressive, gifted fighter and became a Reckoner arena champion by beating the basilisk rider Navus.

Ambessa
General Ambessa Medarda recruited her, and Rell gladly left her abusive parents. On the journey across the Great Barrier she trained under Ambessa and the lieutenant Rictus. In Vindor she fell for Tora, a stablehand and archer.
- Step 3
Metal answers her
After a brutal first battle in the Varju Mountains, Rell's ferromancy emerged as she defended Ambessa from Gintara's basilisk. She executed Gintara on Ambessa's orders. Ambessa then offered to adopt her into House Medarda.
- Step 4
The false Ambessa
Before the adoption, a figure who seemed to be Ambessa led her from the Rokrund compound. It was LeBlanc, working for the Black Rose. Rell was taken to an underground facility that resembled the Bel'zhun arena.

The Black Rose
She was forced to fight other young mages. After each win, her opponent's magic was extracted and burned onto her skin as runes, which Nullified them. The first victim was a pyromancer named Saida, and her anguish haunted Rell. Rell vowed to destroy the Black Rose and Noxus itself.
