Who they are
Pantheon is Atreus, host of the Aspect of War, whose human consciousness is suppressed by the Aspect.
Their story belongs to Targon. The tallest peak in Runeterra, and the beings who choose hosts there.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
A tireless Rakkor
Atreus was born among the Rakkor tribes on the slopes of Mount Targon. He had little natural talent or strength but made up for it with stubborn endurance. His refusal to stay down earned the respect of Pylas, who went from rival to best friend. The two trained together with the Ra'Horak military unit.
- Step 2
The mountain
A barbarian attack killed most of their patrol. The two asked the Aspect of the Sun for help and were refused, so they climbed Mount Targon themselves. Pylas died on the peak. Atreus reached the summit alone, where the Aspect of War took his body and left him conscious but powerless.
- Step 3
Hunting Darkin
For years the Aspect forced him to hunt Darkin across Runeterra. At last he faced Aatrox, who drove his blade through the Aspect and left Atreus for dead. Atreus survived with a permanent scar across his chest.
- Step 4
Freed
Atreus recovered on the farm of Iula, Pylas's widow, and learned that Aatrox was leading barbarian invasions. He fought Aatrox again and severed the Darkin from his host, which somehow brought back Pantheon's constellation.
- Step 5
The Ruined King
When Viego attacked Targon, he revived the Aspect and took hold of Atreus once more. Atreus was freed after the Sentinels of Light defeated Viego. He fell into despair until Iula reminded him of his purpose.
- Step 6
Reclaimed
On his way up Targon's peak Atreus was knocked off a cliff, but he found new resolve and recovered his celestial power. He now rejects divine authority and defends humanity, and he takes pride in mortal resilience.

Atreus stands as a Pantheon who holds his power as a mortal and distrusts gods. His relationship with the other Aspects remains tense. the lore is vague about how independent his powers truly are.

Shurima and the Darkin war
Ancient Shurima governed Targon and received the knowledge to create Ascended warriors. In the Great Darkin War the Aspect of Twilight helped defeat the corrupted Ascended.

As the celestial cycles shift, the conflict between Solari and Lunari has flared up again, and Diana and Leona sit on opposite sides of it.
