Who they are
Soraka descended from the celestial realm to help the mortal races, giving up her immortal form to do so. She now lives in the Astral Grove on Mount Targon's western peaks.
There she mentors an isolated vastaya tribe and cares for stellacorns, creatures that fall from the celestial realm.
Their story belongs to Targon. The tallest peak in Runeterra, and the beings who choose hosts there.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
The Starchild
Soraka was a celestial being from before recorded history, one of many who watched Runeterra and guided mortals through the constellations. She worried that mortals misread those messages, which led to suffering.
- Step 2
Descent
Unable to keep watching, she came down to Runeterra and gave up her immortal form to take a physical body. She looks like the Ottrani, with a single horn, and said she could no longer merely watch.
- Step 3
A wandering healer
Over a very long time she traveled as a healer and seer. She was the Horned Healer in the Freljord, a lilac-skinned medic in Zaun, and the Seer to the vastayashai'rei in Ionia. On Mount Targon she met Diana, Leona and Pantheon, and Pantheon told her that if her kind could see what she saw, they would weep for her.
- Step 4
A new view of mortals
She realized mortals can be cruel but also have endless potential for kindness, and that fixed celestial destinies cannot contain them. She stopped trying to repair fate and began guiding people toward paths they had not yet found.
- Step 5
The Astral Grove
She now lives in the Astral Grove in the western peaks of Targon. She created the Star Spring, mentors an isolated Ottrani tribe in healing, and watches over stellacorns until they mature.
Turning points
- Giving up her immortal form to come to Runeterra
- Learning that mortals have endless potential for kindness
- Shifting from fixing fate to guiding individuals
- Creating the Star Spring in the Astral Grove
Where their story stands now
Soraka remains in the Astral Grove and says she will never stop trying. It is unclear how long she will stay or why Targon draws her. Her disagreement with Aurelion Sol over mortals remains unresolved, and so does the fate of the stellacorns.
Who they are tied to
- Taric →Soraka and Taric share a respect for mortals.
- Pantheon →Pantheon calls Soraka the Seer and understands her view.
- Aphelios →Soraka understands the pain Aphelios carries.
- Alune →Soraka understands the pain Alune carries.
- Bard →Bard is a fellow celestial who shares her origins.
- Aurelion Sol →Aurelion Sol sees her as diminished, which she disputes, and they disagree over mortals.
Where this fits in the story
- Targon · step 1
The mountain and its peoples
The Rakkor live in cave settlements, herding and foraging. The Solari and Lunari are two religious factions; the Solari have dominated and persecuted the Lunari into hiding.
- Targon · step 2
The Aspects
The Aspects live in Targon Prime and choose mortal hosts. Pantheon, Diana, Leona, Zoe and Taric each carry the power of one.
- Targon · step 3
Shurima and the Darkin war
Ancient Shurima governed Targon and received the knowledge to create Ascended warriors. In the Great Darkin War the Aspect of Twilight helped defeat the corrupted Ascended.
- Targon · step 4
Sun against moon
As the celestial cycles shift, the conflict between Solari and Lunari has flared up again, and Diana and Leona sit on opposite sides of it.
