Who they are
Taric is a Demacian exile who was chosen by the Aspect of the Protector.
Their story belongs to Targon and also touches Demacia. The tallest peak in Runeterra, and the beings who choose hosts there.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
A soldier who loved beauty
Taric was born in Demacia into a family with a long military tradition. As a young man he trained well, but he also helped the Illuminators, nursed the sick, rebuilt flood-damaged homes and gave his art to stonemasons. He later drew criticism for enjoying music, rare animals and the night sky.
- Step 2
Dauntless Vanguard
He rose through the ranks and joined the Dauntless Vanguard, which demanded strict conduct. His sword-captain gave him close service duty as a discipline measure. Taric left his post to explore a ruined temple during a key battle, and the captain and dozens of soldiers died in his absence.
- Step 3
The Crown of Stone
The punishment was death, but his friend Garen, newly named sword-captain, instead sentenced him to the Crown of Stone, climbing Mount Targon to seek redemption. It was a harsh sentence, close to a death sentence in its own right.
- Step 4
Climbing Targon
On the mountain Taric faced a ghostly Noxian soldier who mocked him. He saw terrible visions, among them the burning of the Alabaster Library and Garen's body hanging from the Immortal Bastion. Still, he kept climbing.
- Step 5
The Aspect of the Protector
At the top he met a crystalline, starlike being called the Arbiter of the Peak, which granted him the Aspect of the Protector. Now he guards life, love and beauty with starlight gems, and he lives on Mount Targon. He has also guided Tyari to the Arbiter, and he is a sworn enemy of the Void.
Turning points
- Leaving his post for the ruined temple
- Garen's sentence of the Crown of Stone
- Reaching the Arbiter of the Peak
Where their story stands now
Taric lives on Targon as the Aspect of the Protector and stands guard against the Void. His links to Demacia and to some other Aspects remain unsettled.
