Nami

A headstrong Marai vastaya who left the sea to save her tribe.

Who they are

Nami is the first of her underwater tribe to venture onto dry land. When the moonstone protecting her people dimmed, she performed the Tidecaller ritual to fetch an abyssal pearl.

She now acts as her tribe's emissary, wielding water magic and her mother's staff to find the Aspect of the Moon.

Their story belongs to Wanderers. Demons, spirits and ancient survivors that belong to no single place.

Their story, step by step

  1. Step 1

    A daughter of the Marai

Nami grew up in the Marai Village, in an underwater Vastaya territory off the coast of Mount Targon. She has water magic and can live in the deep sea.

  2. Step 2

    A fading moonstone

The moonstone that guards the Marai from deep-sea predators began to dim. Tradition says a Tidecaller must fetch an abyssal pearl to trade to land dwellers for a new stone. The tribe chose Rasho.

  3. Step 3

    Taking the trial herself

After a month with no sign of Rasho, Nami decided to go herself despite worries about her rashness. She took her mother's staff, dove into the abyss and after several days came back with the pearl and Rasho's staff. She became the tribe's Tidecaller.

  4. Step 4

    An empty bargain

On the surface she learned the Aspect of the Moon had left Targon, so no replacement stone could be had in the usual way. She decided to find Diana, the Aspect of the Moon.

  5. Step 5

    First onto land

Using the staff to raise water beneath her, Nami became the first of the Marai to walk on dry land and set off on her quest.

Turning points

  • Taking the Tidecaller trial in Rasho's place
