Who they are
Galio was built by the master craftsman Arcturus J. Durand as Demacia's defense against hostile magic. He stays dormant as inert stone until powerful magic awakens him, then defends his homeland with great strength and durability.
When the threat passes he goes dormant again, so each victory ends in his own deactivation.
Their story belongs to Demacia. A proud kingdom behind high walls that fears magic.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
A shield against mages
Demacia's military commissioned the master craftsman Arcturus J. Durand to build a huge petricite golem as a defense against enemy mages. After about two years of work Durand revealed Galio, around 292 AN.
- Step 2
First awakening
At the Battle of Greenfang Mountains, the energy from enemy warmages called the Arcane Fist animated Galio for the first time. He fought with Demacian soldiers and destroyed the force, then turned back to stone, still aware and longing to wake again.
- Step 3
Decades of stillness
He was carried to battlefield after battlefield while mostly inert. Facing Freljordian forces he sensed a large chained creature and stirred when a sorcerer's magic woke him. He fought the beast and crushed an enemy mage, then went dormant again and wondered about his own magical nature.
- Step 4
Meeting Lux
Thirteen-year-old Luxanna Crownguard woke him by accident with her new light magic in the palace gardens. He admired her light and she liked having his protection. He saved her from armed attackers when Mageseekers pursued her, and they shared a sunrise before she went home to her mother's pressure to suppress her magic.

The northern fortress
For almost a decade after, Galio was called up to help Lux, Garen and other Demacian soldiers at a northern fortress against Sylas and his Winter's Claw allies in the Freljord.

Where their story stands now
Galio keeps watch on Memorial Road in Demacia's Great City. His central bind persists: the magic he destroys is also what wakes him, so every victory sends him back to sleep.

- Garen →Garen was a fellow soldier alongside Galio in the fight against Sylas and the Winter's Claw.
