- Step 1
A noble who wanted the sword
Fiora was born the youngest daughter of House Laurent in Demacia's Great City. Daughters like her were expected to marry for political advantage. She refused that role and secretly taught herself swordcraft with her eldest brother's rapier until she was an exceptional duelist.
- Step 2
The wedding that broke
Her parents arranged a marriage into a far-flung branch of the Crownguards to seal an alliance. Fiora publicly refused at the ceremony, and the groom demanded a duel to the death. Her father Sebastien stood in as her champion.
- Step 3
Her father's disgrace
Facing defeat, Sebastien tried to drug his opponent, a grave breach of Demacian honor. He was arrested and condemned to death. Before the sentence was carried out he spoke with Fiora in private.
- Step 4
Duel for the house
Fiora then asked King Jarvan III for permission to duel her father herself, with leadership of House Laurent as the prize. She won, killed him, and took his title as head of the family.
- Step 5
Rebuilding the name
She set about repairing House Laurent's reputation through politics, raising cousins and distant relatives into the nobility and presenting the house as masters of refined bladework in Demacia's service. When critics questioned her rule or her refusal of suitors, she answered them with duels in the Hall of Blades, beating at least thirty and killing several.

Recent encounters
She has since crossed paths with Garen Crownguard in an Ehrenmount training arena, where the two helped defend the city from a dragon. She also challenged the warrior Jax at a bridge, sensing a possible worthy opponent.
