Who they are
Sett was born to a Vastayan mother and a human father and was bullied as a child for his mixed heritage. After the Noxian war he rose through Navori's fighting pits to control the local underworld.
He absorbs kinetic energy from attacks to power himself, and he hides his criminal life from his mother, whom he is devoted to supporting.
Their story belongs to Ionia. Natural magic, spirits, and a peace that war broke.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
An outcast child in Navori
Sett was born in Navori, Ionia, to a Vastayan wolverine mother and a human father who were not married. His mixed heritage left him an outsider and both parents were shunned by their communities. His father had been a pit fighter in Noxus, and that reputation protected him at first.
- Step 2
His father leaves
When his father left to seek fortune elsewhere, the protection ended, and classmates called him the Beast-Boy Bastard. Sett began fighting back with growing ferocity and gained a local reputation for brutality.
- Step 3
The pits
One night he sneaked to a fighting pit against his mother's wishes and watched professional fights. He also learned his father had left to chase wealth, and he came to resent him.
- Step 4
Crime boss
After the Noxian war he rose from pit fighter to crime boss and now commands the Navori fighting pits. He uses kinetic energy absorbed from blows and some Vastayan magic alongside raw strength.
Turning points
- His father abandoning the family
- Answering bullies with escalating violence
- Rising through the pits after the Noxian war
Where their story stands now
Sett runs Navori's underworld in his early thirties and secretly supports his mother with his earnings while hiding how he gets them. His missing father is the main open thread, and whether a Legends of Runeterra character called the Old Timer is that father is unconfirmed.
Who they are tied to
Where this fits in the story
- Ionia · step 1
The Vastaya
Ionian history says mortals merged with spirit-realm power to defeat invading Titans, and that this gave rise to the Vastayashai'rei, the Vastaya.
- Ionia · step 2
The Darkin war
Ancient god-warriors invaded Ionia in the Darkin war. The Kinkou Order sealed them inside weapons.
- Ionia · step 3
The Noxian invasion
Noxus occupied territory for about five years and took magical artifacts, then withdrew. Irelia led the resistance.
- Ionia · step 4
A divided peace
The war left Ionia split between those who want to stay peaceful and those who want to be ready to fight. Zed founded the Order of Shadow, a rival to the Kinkou that uses forbidden dark magic.
