Who they are
Rammus is a near-immortal wanderer of Shurima whose true nature, whether divine, magical or something else, remains unknown. He speaks rarely and appears to step into crises before leaving again.
Some Shurimans have come to treat him as a silent god and pray to him when in danger.
Their story belongs to Shurima. A fallen empire of living gods, waking up again.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
Unknown origins
Rammus's origin is unknown. He first appears in records from Shurima's Age of Ascension, in mosaics and carvings alongside demigods and spirits. Scholars guess he was seen as a harbinger of change or a guardian spirit.
- Step 2
Through the Rune Wars
While Shurima suffered in the Rune Wars, he is said to have gone on unchanged. Some take this as proof of divinity, others as proof he lives outside normal time.
- Step 3
Strange accounts
Reports say he entered the magical fortress of Siram, which collapsed to dust within an hour. In the Year of the Great Flood he crossed Lake Imalli in two days and destroyed an ant queen ravaging farmland. Near an ancient temple his presence caused tremors that buried Noxian invaders.
- Step 4
Ojan's prayer
A boy named Ojan carved a wooden figure of Rammus and prayed when giant beetles attacked his family's caravan. Rammus appeared and saved Ojan, his sibling and their mother, which deepened local devotion.
Turning points
- Appearing in Shurima's ancient records
- Staying unchanged through the Rune Wars
- Answering Ojan's prayer
Where their story stands now
Rammus roams Shurima's desert with no fixed home and still helps people in danger. Pilgrims believe he is a silent god who answers one question for the truly desperate. His nature, origin and motives are all unknown.
Where this fits in the story
- Shurima · step 1
The Ascended and the Sun Disc
The Sun Disc floated above the Circle of Ascension at the capital's center, turning the desert fertile and giving warriors the power to ascend. The Ascended led Shurima's expansion for centuries.
- Shurima · step 2
Icathia
After centuries of domination the Icathians rebelled. Facing defeat, they unleashed the Void, and the Ascended sealed its rifts at tremendous cost.
- Shurima · step 3
Xerath's betrayal
Xerath betrayed Azir around 2000 BN and the empire collapsed. Nasus had earlier locked away his brother Renekton, who had gone mad, and Xerath's betrayal freed him.
- Shurima · step 4
Azir returns
Azir was resurrected when Sivir, his last descendant, bled into the sacred sands. He restored his fallen city, and the new Shurima is reshaping the politics of the whole world.
