Who they are
Graves is an outlaw of Bilgewater's criminal underworld.
Their story belongs to Bilgewater. A lawless harbor where anything can be bought, and the dead come ashore.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
Growing up on the wharf
Malcolm Graves grew up in the alleys of Bilgewater's docks, where he learned to fight and steal. As a youth he stole a blunderbuss and slipped aboard a ship bound for the Shuriman mainland.
- Step 2
A gambler on the road
He stole, lied and gambled his way from place to place. At a high-stakes card game in Mudtown he met Twisted Fate.
- Step 3
A partnership
The two saw something familiar in each other. Graves brought the muscle and Twisted Fate the planning. Together they pulled heists across Valoran, including Piltover's Clockwork Vault and schemes against Noxian noble houses.
- Step 4
Locked away
A heist went wrong. Graves was captured while Twisted Fate got away. He spent years in the Locker prison enduring torture and isolation, and became convinced Twisted Fate had abandoned him on purpose.
- Step 5
Revenge and rescue
Graves escaped with a stolen shotgun and went after his old partner. Miss Fortune arranged a reunion in Gangplank's warehouse. It ended in fire, and both men faced execution. During their escape Twisted Fate jumped into the sea to save the drowning Graves, which began to repair their trust.
- Step 6
Back to the life
They resumed working together, chasing treasures such as the Abyssal Crown. Graves briefly allied with the Sentinels of Light before going back to being an outlaw with no fixed home.

Gangplank ruled the port as the Reaver King. His murder of Sarah Fortune's parents set her on the path to bring him down.
- Bilgewater · step 3
Miss Fortune's revenge
Miss Fortune destroyed his ship, then consolidated control over the port and eliminated the Corsair's Conclave. Gangplank survived with Illaoi's help, and now rule of Bilgewater is disputed between them.

The Harrowing
Each time the Black Mist from the Shadow Isles reaches Bilgewater, the dead rise. Illaoi's divine power is one of the port's defenses.
