Born of the Void
Cho'Gath came from the Void, a dark realm, as a creature of the Watchers. Like other Voidborn it embodies the Void's drive to consume life. Riot's lore says that from the moment it first emerged into Runeterra's sunlight it was driven by pure, insatiable hunger.
- Step 2
A predator that grows
Cho'Gath turns what it eats into greater size and strength, so it keeps growing as it feeds. It is cunning in a primal way and enjoys inflicting terror.

At the Void Rift
It now hunts creatures near the Void Rift in Icathia, where the barriers between worlds have worn thin.

What the Void is
The Void lies beyond reality. Its masters, the Watchers, had no form or self-awareness at first and want to unmake Runeterra.

The Freljord
The Watchers turned humans in the Freljord into immortal Iceborn. Avarosa led a rebellion, and her sister Lissandra entombed the Watchers in True Ice beneath the Howling Abyss. Some escaped, and those trapped made the first Voidborn.

Icathia
Around 2500 BN the Icathians rebelled against Shurima, dug up a mysterious weapon and opened a huge rift. It destroyed their civilization and released countless Voidborn. The Rupture is still there.

Today
Nine runic seals slowly weaken, and Voidborn keep appearing. Some champions hunt them while others, like Malzahar, serve the Void or open new rifts.
