Who they are
Yorick is a monk who survived the Ruination and gained control over undead spirits. He wants to destroy the curse using its own power.
Their story belongs to Shadow Isles. Once the Blessed Isles; now a land of mist, wraiths and the ruined.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
The lonely boy who saw the dead
Yorick grew up in a small fishing village at the edge of the Blessed Isles, an outcast. He could see and talk to the spirits of the dead, and he gently guided confused ones onward.
- Step 2
The Brethren of the Dusk
Hearing of his gift, a small order called the Brethren of the Dusk took him in and gave him a vial of the Waters of Life, which every member wore. The monks still shunned him, since he had naturally what they had spent their lives pursuing.
- Step 3
The Ruination
King Viego tried to revive his dead wife Isolde with the Waters of Life, which released the Black Mist over the Isles. The monks threw away their vials and were consumed and turned into corpses. Yorick held on to his, and the Mist recoiled from it.
- Step 4
Alone with the dead
He awoke changed, in a land emptied of living people that would come to be called the Shadow Isles. He found the tormented spirits obeyed him, and resolved to end the curse and give them peace.
- Step 5
Centuries of vigil
For a very long time he kept this solitary watch, guiding souls while searching for a way to break Viego's curse.
- Step 6
The Sentinels
The Sentinels of Light sought him out, and he came to believe that together they could defeat Viego. He gave them the Maiden of the Mist, which holds a fragment of Isolde's soul, and his last Waters of Life.

Where their story stands now
Viego has been banished, but the Black Mist remains, so Yorick's own situation is unresolved. He is stranded on the Shadow Isles without his protective vial, and his goal of ending the curse is unmet.
