Who they are
Rengar is a Vastaya from Kiilash Village.
Their story belongs to Ixtal. Elemental mages hiding behind a wall of shifting jungle.
Their story, step by step
- Step 1
The runt of Kiilash
Rengar was born the smallest of the Kiilash tribe, a vastayan hunting people in the jungles of Ixtal. His father, the chieftain Ponjaf, dismissed him and expected him to starve. Ashamed, he fled the camp and lived on grubs and plants.
- Step 2
Learning from Markon
The human hunter Markon nearly killed him but decided to spare him. Rengar followed Markon for months, scavenging and learning. In time Markon forced him to hunt alone by throwing him into a ravine with only a blade.
- Step 3
Return and Kha'Zix
Rengar grew fierce and returned with trophies, but Ponjaf still scorned him. Ponjaf sent him to bring back the head of Kha'Zix, a Void creature, and Kha'Zix took his left eye. He then challenged his father, killed him and became chieftain.
- Step 4
The eternal hunt
Rengar turned away from tribal life and made hunting Kha'Zix his obsession. Later, when the Black Mist overran Ixtal, Lucian and a Sentinel recruit saved him. He joined the Sentinels briefly, seeing Viego as worthy prey.
Turning points
- Surviving alone after being cast out
- Losing his eye to Kha'Zix
- Killing Ponjaf and refusing to settle as chieftain
Where their story stands now
Rengar wanders without a home, still tracking Kha'Zix and seemingly no longer with the Sentinels. His great hunt remains unfinished.
Where this fits in the story
- Ixtal · step 1
A wall of jungle
A magical barrier keeps outsiders away by changing weather and moving terrain. Few people have seen Ixtal from inside.
- Ixtal · step 2
The Axiomata and the arcologies
Different arcologies specialize in different elements: one in fire, rock and magnetism, another in water, ice and steam.
- Ixtal · step 3
Leaving the empire
Ixtal was once part of the Shuriman Empire and withdrew after witnessing catastrophic wars, including a clash between the Ascended Ne'Zuk's Monolith fortress and the Void.
- Ixtal · step 4
Back in the world
After millennia of isolation, Qiyana's actions exposed Ixtal to Piltover. The Ixtali still see other nations as upstarts and pretenders.
