What happens in the game

The fall of Dalaran makes the threat immediate and personal, while Anduin, Alleria and the earthen each confront different crises of identity and purpose.

Khaz Algar reveals civilizations beneath familiar Azeroth and makes the world's interior part of the political map rather than an abstract cosmic secret.

The story, step by step

  1. The radiant song and Dalaran's fall

    Azeroth's visions draw leaders toward Khaz Algar, where Xal'atath destroys Dalaran and turns a global warning into immediate loss. Alleria's pursuit and Anduin's crisis frame the campaign through damaged trust in power.

  2. Khaz Algar below

    The earthen of Dorn, the machine speakers, the Arathi of Hallowfall and the nerubians of Azj-Kahet reveal societies beneath familiar Azeroth. Their conflicts prevent the underground world from functioning as only a corridor to Xal'atath.

  3. The first movement of a saga

    The campaign disrupts Xal'atath's plans without closing the Worldsoul Saga. Because the story continues through patches and later expansions, current victories are provisional and announced developments must remain distinct from released canon.

What the story is really about

Faith after certainty

Anduin and the Arathi show belief as a relationship tested by silence, failure and community rather than guaranteed supernatural response.

A world is also its unseen peoples

Khaz Algar changes the political map by giving interior civilizations their own histories instead of treating Azeroth's depths as empty mystery.

How it ends

The live campaign resolves individual fronts while Xal'atath's broader plan continues beyond Khaz Algar; later saga chapters should not be treated as already settled.

  • The Void becomes the central active threat to Azeroth.
  • Alleria and Anduin move from private trauma into the wider Worldsoul conflict.

How it connects forward

Midnight carries the Void war toward Quel'Thalas and the Sunwell; only officially released chapters should be narrated as completed.
