What it is
The Mojave is Fallout's clearest political sandbox. The Courier's survival after a failed delivery becomes a question about who should control Hoover Dam and what kind of civilization deserves to win.
No ending is a universal answer. The point is to understand what each route values: NCR institutions, Caesar's authoritarian empire, House's technocratic independence or the Courier's own rule.
The Second Battle of Hoover Dam is powerful because it concentrates decades of western history into one decision. Every contender promises order, but the Courier sees the labor, violence and compromises required to keep that promise alive after the victory screen.
New Vegas also preserves a conflict between pre-war spectacle and post-war need. The Strip's glamour only works because the desert around it supplies labor, water, routes and people whose futures are decided at the Dam.
The short version
- Hoover Dam is the strategic prize because water and electricity equal power.
- The NCR, Legion, House and independent routes offer incompatible futures.
- The anniversary edition renews interest in the base game and all six official add-ons.
- The Mojave's endings matter less as a ranking than as competing answers to legitimacy, consent and the cost of stability.
The story in 6 steps
- Step 1
Survive the delivery
The Courier enters the Mojave with a mystery and no fixed allegiance.
- Step 2
Learn the factions
Each power offers security, ideology or freedom at a different cost.
- Step 3
Return to the Strip
Mr. House and the Strip reveal that pre-war technology still governs the present.
- Step 4
Choose Hoover Dam
The final battle resolves a route, not a single permanent reading of the wasteland.
- Step 5
Live with the choice
A dam can be captured in a day; the harder question is what kind of daily life each victor creates for people who did not choose the war.
- Step 6
Look beyond the Strip
After meeting the grand visions, return to the communities around Hoover Dam to judge what each proposed future asks them to endure.
