Who they are
Alexstrasza carries the task of helping dragonkind recover a purpose after immense loss and division. The Dragon Isles make that work the center of the story rather than a side note to mortal faction conflict.
Her relationship to Deathwing's legacy explains why renewal is difficult: the flights cannot simply recover their old authority without confronting what broke it.
Their story belongs to The Dragon Isles and also touches The Shattered Azeroth. The ancestral home of dragonkind returns as Azeroth begins another age of renewal.
Their story, step by step

Carry the Life-Binder's duty
Alexstrasza represents dragonkind's responsibility to life, but that title cannot spare her from the damage done by the flights' failures.
- Step 2
Live through betrayal
Deathwing's fall and the histories around the dragons make recovery a matter of memory as well as regained power.
- Step 3
Lead renewal
Dragonflight makes her central to the question of whether the flights can serve Azeroth again on terms other peoples can trust.
Turning points
