Opening · playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales

Old friends, unfinished grief

In this chapterPeter and Miles stop Sandman, but Peter loses his teaching job and remains unable to decide what future he wants outside Spider-Man.

The opening presents two Spider-Men who can save a city but cannot organize their own futures. Harry gives Peter a vision of meaningful work shared with his oldest friend. Miles, meanwhile, treats his pursuit of Li as unfinished responsibility, even as it prevents him from describing who he wants to become.

Peter and Miles begin from opposite versions of the same wound. Peter clings to May's house, May's values and a life he cannot financially sustain; Miles turns his father's death into a task that must be completed before life can continue. Their masks are not the cause of this paralysis. Being Spider-Man simply gives each of them an endless supply of emergencies with which to postpone mourning.

Harry's return feels like restoration. The Emily-May Foundation combines Peter's scientific talent, May's ethic of service and Harry's resources, making it appear that Peter can finally unite every part of himself. The tragedy is that Harry's health depends on the symbiote. The future Peter wants has already been built on something none of them understands.

Peter and Harry's reunion begins as a promise that old friendship can repair loss, which is why the symbiote's later damage feels intimate before it becomes citywide.

What unfolds

  1. Harry Osborn returns apparently cured and invites Peter to build the Emily-May Foundation with him.
  2. Miles delays his college essay and remains consumed by Martin Li, whose bombing killed his father Jefferson Davis.

The hunt · playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales

Predators in New York

In this chapterKraven brings his hunters to New York to pursue super-powered opponents worthy of killing him before his terminal illness does.

Kraven's campaign makes strength a death ritual: opponents have value only if they can give him the ending he wants. Harry experiences the opposite meaning of power when the symbiote lets him protect people beside Peter. Their partnership is joyful, but its source is also the treatment keeping Harry alive.

Kraven's hunters reduce every person to capability, weakness and trophy. That worldview pressures the heroes to decide whether protection is conditional. Miles must help preserve Li's life despite wanting him punished; Peter must rescue Connors rather than treat the Lizard as a monster to eliminate. Heroism is defined through care for the person hidden inside the threat.

For Harry, Agent Venom is not merely a power fantasy. Chronic illness has made his body a prison and his future a promise other people keep postponing. Fighting beside Peter lets him feel useful rather than protected. That makes the eventual loss of the symbiote emotionally devastating: Peter does not simply take a suit; he unknowingly takes back the life Harry had started living.

Kraven's hunt turns New York into a hierarchy of prey and spectacle. He seeks a meaningful death, but his search gives him permission to make everyone else's life disposable.

What unfolds

  1. The hunters target villains including Martin Li and Dr. Curt Connors, forcing Peter and Miles to protect former enemies.
  2. Harry secretly uses the symbiote as Agent Venom and fights beside Peter, experiencing heroism as the life he feared illness had stolen.

The symbiote · playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales

Peter stops letting go

In this chapterKraven fatally wounds Peter, and the symbiote leaves Harry to bond with Peter and heal him.

Peter initially treats the black suit as a tool that finally makes him strong enough to save everyone. Its influence gives moral permission to exhaustion and resentment he already carried. By refusing Harry and shutting out Miles and MJ, Peter becomes the danger his insistence on control was meant to prevent.

The symbiote does not invent Peter's anger. It turns private thoughts into a governing philosophy: if Peter were stronger, faster and less patient, nobody else would die. That belief grows from love but erases the agency of everyone he loves. He stops collaborating because collaboration admits uncertainty, and uncertainty reminds him that May could not be saved.

Miles wins by reaching Peter rather than overpowering him. Their battle reverses the mentor relationship: Miles recognizes that saving Spider-Man may require opposing Peter Parker. Peter's removal of the suit is therefore an act of trust. He accepts that the people beside him can see what he cannot and that needing help does not invalidate his responsibility.

Peter's refusal to let go of the symbiote is not simple corruption; it is grief expressed as efficiency, the belief that being stronger will spare him another irreversible loss.

What unfolds

  1. The black suit amplifies Peter's power, anger and need for control, damaging his relationships with Miles, MJ and Harry.
  2. Peter defeats the Lizard but refuses to return the symbiote until Miles helps him confront and remove it.

Forgiveness · playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales

The enemy inside

In this chapterKraven forces Miles and Martin Li into conflict, giving Miles the opportunity to kill the man responsible for his father's death.

Miles's confrontation with Li resolves nothing by excusing him. Instead, Miles refuses to let Li determine the rest of his identity. Li then helps Miles reach Peter and gives up his power to create Anti-Venom, turning accountability into action rather than a request to be forgiven.

Forgiveness here is not reconciliation or forgetting. Miles names what Li took and chooses not to reproduce it. Killing Li would make the moment revolve around Li again; releasing the demand for revenge returns Miles's future to him. His college essay can finally be about a person still becoming rather than a son permanently defined by loss.

Li's sacrifice matters because redemption is shown as costly. He cannot restore Jefferson Davis or erase the bombing, but he can spend the power once used to divide minds on freeing Peter's. The story pairs Miles and Li not because their harms are equal, but because both must decide whether pain becomes an inheritance passed forward.

The black suit externalises a fear Peter has always carried: that responsibility can become an excuse for controlling friends when their choices might lead to pain.

What unfolds

  1. Miles refuses revenge and later enters Peter's mind with Li, helping Peter break the symbiote's hold.
  2. Li sacrifices his remaining power to transform Peter's symbiote abilities into Anti-Venom, choosing repair over escape.

Venom · playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales

Heal the world

In this chapterAfter Peter rejects it, the symbiote bonds with a desperate Harry and becomes Venom, killing Kraven and escaping Oscorp.

Venom fuses the symbiote's hunger for connection with Harry's terror of dying and being left behind. Its citywide invasion promises an end to loneliness, illness and disagreement by removing separation itself. Peter must accept that preserving Harry's current state is not the same as saving his friend.

Venom is the endpoint of care transformed into possession. Harry wants a future with Peter; the symbiote wants permanent union; together they build a world in which nobody can leave because nobody remains separate. The promise is emotionally precise enough to tempt Peter: all the people he failed would be beyond loss. Its horror is that grief would be solved by abolishing choice.

Peter's task is cruel because there is no version where he keeps every promise. Returning the symbiote earlier might have saved Harry but endangered Peter; destroying it may save the city while condemning Harry. Mature responsibility arrives when Peter stops measuring goodness by whether everyone survives and starts respecting what the people beside him are willing to risk.

Miles saves Peter by refusing both fear and resentment. Their relationship demonstrates that partnership is not a downgrade from the solitary hero but the condition that keeps power accountable.

What unfolds

  1. Venom interprets Harry's wish to heal the world as a plan to spread symbiotes across New York and make everyone part of one organism.
  2. MJ, Miles and Peter resist the invasion while Peter realizes that saving Harry requires destroying the thing keeping him alive.

Finale · playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales

Together, then apart

In this chapterPeter and Miles destroy the meteorite sustaining the invasion and separate Harry from Venom, but Harry is left comatose until Miles revives him.

The Spider-Men save New York by ending the forced unity Venom offered. Harry survives but is not restored, and Norman turns grief into blame. Peter finally accepts that responsibility can be shared, leaving Miles as the city's primary Spider-Man while he rebuilds the life he kept postponing.

The finale refuses a perfect rescue. Peter keeps Harry alive but cannot return their friendship to the morning at the Emily-May Foundation. Norman responds as Peter once did under the suit: pain becomes proof that greater control is necessary. The G-Serum promise shows another father preparing to turn love into a weapon rather than live with uncertainty.

Peter's pause is not retirement through defeat. It completes the lesson Miles taught him: sharing responsibility is not abandonment. Miles no longer needs to become Peter's version of Spider-Man, and Peter no longer needs endless sacrifice to prove he deserved May's faith. Both heroes move forward by allowing a relationship to change without treating that change as loss.

The ending separates the two Spider-Men without dividing their purpose. Peter's rest is a choice to remain human and present, while Miles's continued work shows that care can be shared.

What unfolds

  1. Norman Osborn blames the Spider-Men for Harry's condition and orders preparation of the G-Serum.
  2. Peter steps back from regular Spider-Man duty to rebuild his life and foundation, trusting Miles to protect New York while Miles embraces his own identity.
