Ending explained

Every route, what unlocks it and what each final choice means.

Cyberpunk 2077's ending is chosen during Nocturne Op55N1, after V meets Hanako and goes with Misty to the rooftop. That conversation with Johnny decides the route into the finale. The endings are not separated by morality points or lifepath. They are separated by who V trusts, which relationships V completed, and what V decides to do with the body after Alt separates V and Johnny.

Who did you trust for the finale?
Who kept the body?

The Devil

The Devil is the Arasaka ending. V trusts Hanako, helps her move against Yorinobu and submits to Arasaka's medical solution in orbit. Its final choice is cold: sign into Secure Your Soul and become an engram, or return to Earth with only a short future left.

Your Arasaka ending keeps V physically alive only if they refuse the contract and return to Earth, but that future is still short and uncertain.

The Star

The Star is the Aldecaldos ending. If V has completed Panam's route, the nomads help assault Arasaka, and V can return to their body. It is the most openly hopeful base-game ending: V leaves Night City with the Aldecaldos, still dying, but no longer alone inside the city's machinery.

The Sun

The Sun is the legend ending. If Johnny and Rogue's route is available, V can survive the tower assault and return to their body as a major figure at the Afterlife. It gives V status, not peace. Johnny remains with Alt, while V keeps chasing one more impossible job on borrowed time.

Your solo ending reaches the same legend outcome if V survives the tower alone and returns to their body: no allies die for the assault, but V still lives on borrowed time.

Temperance

Temperance is the Johnny ending. After reaching Mikoshi through Panam, Rogue or the secret route, V can let Johnny keep the body. Johnny leaves Night City in V's body, while V crosses beyond the Blackwall with Alt. It is survival, but not V's survival in the physical world. Your Rogue-route Temperance ending gives Johnny V's body after the Afterlife assault, leaving V with Alt beyond the Blackwall.

Your solo Temperance ending lets Johnny live after V survives the tower without risking Panam, Rogue or anyone else in the assault.

Path of Least Resistance

Path of Least Resistance is the refusal ending. V chooses not to risk anyone else and ends the story on the rooftop. The game responds through the credits calls: this choice stops the fight, but it also leaves the people who cared about V to process the loss.

Don't Fear the Reaper

Don't Fear the Reaper is the secret solo assault. It is not a separate philosophical ending so much as a different way to reach the Sun or Temperance outcomes. Its meaning is pure Johnny and pure V: no allies sacrificed, no corporation trusted, and no safety net if the tower wins.

What it means

The central tragedy is that V wins access to the truth too late. Alt can separate the minds, but she cannot restore the body to what it was before the Relic. So every ending asks the same question in a different costume: is V still V if they become data, if they live only a little longer, or if they give Johnny the life the chip prepared for him?
