Connor learns that Lee has recruited Mohawk warriors, and he has to kill his friend Kanen'tó:kon to avoid a war. Haytham plans to replace Washington with Lee. After Lee falls from favour and hides in Fort George, Connor confronts and kills his father. He then hunts Lee down and kills him, taking the key. The death of Haytham is the emotional peak of the colonial story. Connor does it reluctantly, and the game lets Haytham leave a final statement about Templar ideals. Desmond's Sacrifice
In this chapterAfter his father William is captured, Desmond storms Abstergo's headquarters in Rome, kills Cross and Warren Vidic, and rescues his father.
Desmond collects the batteries, rescues his father and kills the Abstergo leaders who have chased him. In the Temple he learns that the only way to stop the solar flare is to give up his life. Minerva opposes the sacrifice because it would free Juno, but Desmond chooses to die to save humanity. The closing scene returns to Connor, who feels he has failed.
Desmond's ending is the end of a five-game arc. He accepts the loss of his life as the cost of saving everyone. Minerva and Juno represent two different views of the First Civilization's legacy. The player sees that no choice is clean.
The Connor epilogue ties the two timelines: both end with a hero who has done what he thought was right and is left to wonder if it was enough.
