What it is
Summerset and Elsweyr are useful because they move the guide away from the Empire's viewpoint. Their political identities, magical traditions and relationships to other provinces make Tamriel a continent rather than a backdrop for one human dynasty.
In ESO, these regions also show why a shared earlier-era setting can support many local stories without erasing their differences.
Summerset and Elsweyr widen the map beyond imperial and Nordic stories. Altmer, Khajiit and their neighboring powers show that Tamriel's future cannot be understood only from the center; each culture carries its own cosmology, losses and political priorities.
These regions also caution against treating one people's self-description as universal. Altmer and Khajiit traditions make metaphysics, identity and homeland questions look different from the categories used by Cyrodiil or Skyrim.
