The otherworldly planes where Daedric Princes turn mortal instability into catastrophe.

What it is

Oblivion is not one place but a collection of realms ruled by Daedric Princes. Their interests often make mortal politics more dangerous because they offer power, bargains and catastrophe without sharing mortal limits.

The Oblivion Crisis is the clearest example: Mehrunes Dagon uses a succession vacuum to bring his realm's violence into Tamriel.

Oblivion is not only a realm of monsters; it is a pressure on the boundaries between mortal life and divine power. Mehrunes Dagon's invasion makes every city a site where metaphysical conflict becomes evacuation, fear and civic responsibility.

Each gate also tests local solidarity. The invasion reaches every province differently, which prevents the Crisis from being only an imperial story and turns it into a shared but uneven emergency.

The short version

  • Daedric Princes rule distinct realms of Oblivion.
  • Mortals often encounter them through bargains, cults and artifacts.
  • The Crisis shows what happens when a Prince can invade Tamriel openly.
  • The Oblivion Crisis translates cosmic danger into a practical question of who protects communities when the old institutions collapse.

The story in 6 steps

  1. Step 1

    Understand the planes

Each Daedric realm reflects a ruler with its own values and dangers.

  2. Step 2

    Find the cults

Mortal followers create openings from inside Tamriel.

  3. Step 3

    Open the gates

The Crisis makes the boundary between realms a battlefield.

  4. Step 4

    Close the invasion

The cost of victory ends a dynasty and a political era.

  5. Step 5

    Close the breach

Each gate makes the same lesson concrete: saving the world requires people to respond locally before any final sacrifice can matter.

  6. Step 6

    Track the local response

Read the final confrontation beside the smaller defenses that let communities endure long enough for it to matter.
