Cal reaches Tanalorr through the Koboh arrays and offers Bode a final chance to share the refuge. Bode refuses, attacks and endangers Kata; Cal ultimately kills him. Cal, Merrin and Greez hold a funeral for Cere, Cordova and Bode, take responsibility for Kata and prepare Tanalorr as a destination for the Hidden Path.
What it means
Tanalorr does not corrupt Dagan or Bode by itself. It becomes dangerous when trauma converts refuge into possession and makes sharing safety feel like losing it. Cal survives with the same darkness available to him. His protection is not purity but relationship: people who can interrupt his fear before it becomes destiny.
consequences
The ending refuses to make Tanalorr a pure reward. Cal, Merrin and Kata can build a home there only if they remember that safety is something offered to others, not hoarded from them. The ending is best read against the earlier turning points: it does not erase their damage, but shows what the protagonists choose to carry forward after it.
