Kefka's Tower
In this chapterThe party storms Kefka's Tower, a monstrous structure of debris.
Kefka's Tower is the final dungeon, built from the wreckage of the old world. The party descends through it, and Terra embraces her half-Esper nature. The party destroys the Warring Triad and confronts Kefka. He is a god-like figure who believes that destroying everything will give him meaning.
The tower is a symbol of Kefka's mind: chaotic, broken and full of other people's lives. Climbing it is a journey through the ruin of the world. Terra's decision to fight is the emotional climax. She decides to live as a being between worlds, and her choice shows that identity can be chosen.
Kefka's philosophy is a nihilistic reply to the game's theme. The party's response, to live and love, is the opposite.

They destroy the Warring Triad and confront Kefka in his final form.

The End of Magic
In this chapterThe party defeats Kefka, and with his death magic and Espers vanish.
After Kefka's defeat the Espers and magic fade from the world. Terra is expected to disappear too, but her human side keeps her alive. The party escapes as the tower collapses. The final scene shows the world recovering. The party watches green return to the land, and the credits show each character's future.
The ending is bittersweet. The loss of magic is a loss of wonder, but it is also the end of a destructive power. Terra's survival confirms the theme: love and humanity are stronger than power. She chooses to live as a person. The credits sequence is one of the best in the series, summarising the story in a long, moving montage.
