The Sabbath and the Hunt

En este capítuloIn the final battle with the Hunt, Geralt kills Eredin; before dying, Eredin warns that Avallac'h will use Ciri for his own ends.

Ciri and Geralt turn from defence to attack. At the Sabbath the Crones' power is broken, Imlerith is killed and two Crones die, though one flees. Meanwhile Yennefer and Triss rebuild the Lodge to defend against the Hunt, and Avallac'h prepares a trap.

The final battle ends with Eredin's defeat at Geralt's blade. His last words are a warning: Avallac'h is not telling the full truth. The Hunt is finished but the White Frost remains, and the story turns from the hunt to the question of what Ciri will do.

Kaer Morhen is the witchers' ancestral home, and the defence of it is an emotional set piece. The outcome depends on who Geralt has recruited. The Sabbath is the revenge sequence. It ties the Velen storyline to the main plot: the Crones' crimes are answered, the escaped Gran becomes the loose end the Death ending resolves, and Ciri sees that killing is not a game even when it is deserved.

The reformation of the Lodge shows the political cost of earlier decisions. If Geralt helped the mages in Novigrad, they are stronger and trust him more. The Lodge's presence also tells the player that the war is not only fought by armies: magic is a faction too.

Eredin's death closes the antagonist arc but not the story. His warning about Avallac'h is not a lie; it reframes the elf's earlier kindness as ambition. The next act is therefore tense: the player knows the main enemy is dead and still cannot trust the one who helped win. Vesemir's death is a major moment because he is the oldest witcher and the player's guide to the school.

The hunt for the Crones shows how Velen's old magic is tied to the main plot. The Sabbath is also a reminder that the war between mages, witch hunters and kings is still unresolved.

Lo que ocurre

  1. Geralt and Ciri track the Crones to a Witches' Sabbath, where Imlerith is killed and two of the three Crones die; the third, Gran, escapes.
  2. Triss and Yennefer reform the Lodge of Sorceresses, with Geralt's choices influencing which side Triss and the mages take.
  3. Avallac'h reveals a plan to use a trap against the Hunt in Skellige.
  4. The Battle of Kaer Morhen brings together witchers, mages and allies depending on earlier choices.
  5. Imlerith's death ends one of the Hunt's most dangerous generals.

The White Frost

En este capítuloThe White Frost spreads across the Continent after the Hunt's defeat; Geralt and Yennefer chase Avallac'h and find Ciri.

With the Hunt gone, a new frost advances across the Continent. Geralt and Yennefer chase Avallac'h and find Ciri alive. The elf had been planning to help her, not use her. Ciri decides that only she can face the White Frost, and enters it alone.

Her survival depends on a series of conversations and decisions across the whole game. Geralt supports her autonomy, or he tries to control her. The result is one of three endings, with distinct political and personal consequences. After the Hunt is defeated, Ciri realises that the true enemy is the White Frost. She decides to take responsibility for stopping it.

The ending hinges on a single idea: love as trust. Geralt cannot save Ciri by force; he can only show that he believes in her. Small moments, such as letting her choose, not forcing rest, not lecturing, accumulate and decide whether she goes into the Frost confident or doubting herself.

In the Empress ending, Ciri reunites with Emhyr and takes the throne, which promises a new Nilfgaard shaped by someone who knows what war costs. In the Witcher ending, she chooses freedom: Geralt helps her fake her death and she becomes a witcher. In the Death ending, she is lost, and Geralt's last act is vengeance on the final Crone.

None of the endings is a victory against the war: the political map is decided by choices in Skellige, Novigrad and Velen. What the ending resolves is the family, which is why the game feels finished even when the continent is still burning. The final choices are about trust. Geralt's earlier advice shapes how Ciri sees the world, and the endings depend on whether he supported or controlled her.

Emhyr's role in the ending shows the difference between a father who wants to control and one who wants to trust. The final scenes treat the end of the Hunt as only part of a larger cycle of wars and disasters.

Lo que ocurre

  1. Ciri explains that Avallac'h was never planning to betray her but to help her fight the White Frost.
  2. Ciri enters the White Frost alone; whether she survives depends on how Geralt treated her throughout the game.
  3. If Ciri survives and Geralt introduced her to Emhyr, she may become Empress; if not, she becomes a witcher; if she dies, Geralt hunts down the last Crone.
  4. In the final battle Geralt kills Eredin and learns the real danger is the White Frost, not the Hunt.
  5. Ciri decides to enter the White Frost to end it, and her fate depends on how Geralt treated her.

After the Hunt

En este capítuloGeralt may choose to settle with Yennefer or Triss, or remain alone; the Blood and Wine expansion later offers him a final home in Toussaint.

After the White Frost, the story summarises the outcomes of earlier choices. Baron's family, Triss and the mages, Skellige's king, Dandelion and the continent's power balance each receive a short fate. The player sees which decisions mattered.

Geralt's own future depends on his relationships. He may end with Yennefer, Triss or no one, and the expansions give his story a quiet coda: Blood and Wine ends with a vineyard in Toussaint if Geralt wants to retire. The epilogue gathers the consequences of Geralt's choices.

The epilogue is deliberately plain in tone. It treats choices as facts rather than rewards, which suits the series: the world remains grey, and a good decision for one person can mean a bad one for another.

For a returning player the epilogue is a checklist of what changed. The political map of the North depends on the war's course; the personal map depends on the relationships Geralt built. Both are stories about who stays when the monsters are gone.

The final image of the witcher is an ordinary man wanting rest. That is the series' answer to its title: a witcher is defined less by monsters slain than by the people he chooses to protect. The final summary is deliberately open about Geralt's future, which leads into Blood and Wine. The game ends as it began, with a witcher and a family.

Lo que ocurre

  1. The aftermath shows how Geralt's earlier decisions changed Velen, Novigrad, Skellige and his friends, in a series of epilogue slides.
  2. Nilfgaard's advance decides who rules the North, and the epilogue reports how his friends fare in the new order.
  3. Cerys or Hjalmar becomes ruler of Skellige and the aftermath of Novigrad's witch hunts is reported.
